What a fantastic find for our lunch after a morning at the lovely open air pool round the corner. Beautiful, fresh, tasty Greek food served with a smile by the lovely owners. It was so good we even took cake to go & the apple cake was truly magnificent. Couldn’t fault a thing and I hope this relatively new place goes from strength to strength as it deserves to.

Stopped off to pass some time en route to a holiday lodge and we were very glad we did. Got to try some beautiful Greek Gyros for the first time and I must say they were delicious. The owners were just lovely. Got chatting to some locals too. All in all a very pleasant little cafe indeed.

We came across this fantastic cafe by accident this morning. We were made to feel very welcome, our coffees and food were of fantastic quality. We bought more food for dinner tonight, and as expected, this was fabulous too. Thanks. We look forward to your delicious food being available on line.

Fantastic authentic Greek food from the loveliest family. The backlava is to die for and the pies and gyros superb. Coffee and hot chocolate superb.

What an absolutely amazing cafe this is, set in the heart of New Cumnock. From the minute you walk in the door you are greeted with a genuinely warm welcome from the owners no matter how busy they are. Their coffee is made to perfection and one of the best I've tasted . The freshly made home cooked food is wonderful , green beans and tomato or potato soufflé ( great veggie options) ... meatballs, moussaka and speciality pies.

Plakous surpassed all expectations and I am delighted to unconditionally recommend it. Lovely, very tasty, well presented home cooking prepared and served by delightful, very friendly hosts who have brought the authentic taste of Greece to an unexpected location. Despite a 75 minute journey from home will definitely be returning. Thank you Lina and Sotiris.
Ps if you are travelling between Ayrshire and Dumfries, Plakous is an ideal place for a coffee/cake/food break.
